PAST EXHIBITION:  A WINDOW ON THE UNIVERSE  - RECENT IMAGES FROM THE HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) has peered deeper into space and thus further back in time than was conceived possible by its own originators and as a result it has radically transformed a host of prevailing notions about the universe.

This exhibition reveals startling images of inconceivably remote galaxies, feasomely powerful black holes, the birth and death throes of stars as well as giving an iinsight into our own solar system - all with unprecedented clarity. This crispness is because the camera on Hubble is 16 million megapixels - slightly stronger than our conventional cameras of 2 - 7 megapixels!

Through the exhibition you will have a chance to journey from the earth outwards to the very deepest, furthest bounds that man has seen.

EXHIBITION EVENTS: On 3rd May there is a gallery talk by leading astronomer, Dr. Robin Catchpole and on 12th May there is a family tour of the exhibition, by the curator, Giles Baker-Smith. For more details see the Events section of the website.
